Ross Symons

Ross lives in Cape Town, South Africa. He started folding paper when he was 21 and the first origami figure he ever folded was a crane (bird).

He folded that bird over and over until he could fold it with
his eyes closed. If he had a beer bottle in front of him, he would rip off the label and fold it into a crane. One of the side projects he started stemmed from his enjoyment of practicing the traditional Japanese art of paper folding known as origami.

He always folded little paper creatures that lay on his desk at work, and kept challenging himself to make more complicated pieces. In 2014, he started his popular Instagram account, white_onrice, where he folded and placed a different origami figure every day
of the year.
